UVClave is a project to help improve sterilisation of tools and equipment in medical and industrial environments, using a system built around the use of UV-C light emitters to provide sterilisation and destroy bacteria and viral contaminants.UVClave will improve beyond existing implementations of autoclave technology by providing touch-free operation and full automatic disinfection coverage without requiring manual intervention. This will improve disinfection standards and also remove human error from the disinfection chain.In addition to medical applications, we would also intend to target industrial environments - in a scenario where ongoing research shows survival times of COVID-19 dependant on surface (often a few days), the ability to disinfect incoming goods and components from virus-hit areas can be an important tool in ensuring business continuity. This can also apply to standard commercial post and deliveries which may have been contaminated in the delivery chain.
