C2M (UK) Ltd (C2M) has developed an innovative board from recycled crushed glass andpolymers creating a new 100% recycled sustainable material (RGH®) for the drywallindustry. C2M have identified that a number of additional applications of the material thatcould be developed within the construction/sustainable sector to increase the use ofsustainable materials. Although the RGH® and the technology behind the materialmanufacture perform to an acceptable level, there are barriers to market entry and ambiguitywith regard to the market and business strategies to take the company forward. Initialinvestigations of the market by C2M (i.e. number of sustainable products/carbon footprint,market demographics, and cost analysis of competitive green products) show the potential togrow the business with additional products. Conversely, the critical issue is that it is notapparent what products end users would require in the RGH® in sustainable build andconstruction as a whole. C2M needs to appraise if there are any exact niches in the sustainableconstruction sector that a material such as RGH® can be valuable to the industry.
