The London Underground is one of the only metro systems in the world to remain withoutMobile Phone network voice and data coverage in the tunnels. It has been estimated that theprovision of full coverage on the network would be worth £1.1bn to the UK Economy.This Proof of Concept study proposes an entirely new technical approach to the provision ofnetwork coverage. One that promises an order of magnitude reduction in installation andsupport costs, transforming the prospects of finding a viable commercial funding model.
