Around 65% of the world’s population needs vision correction – usually provided by spectacles. Access to vision correction is highest in the Western World, with over 50% of the population having access to corrective eyewear. The US has over 180 million wearers of corrective eye-wear with over 85 million spectacles sold every year. Over 80 million spectacles are sold every year in Western Europe – 12 million in the UK alone. By contrast, the Developing World has very low access to vision correction – only 15% of China, 8% of India and less than 3% of Africa’s population.Style Eyes has created, concept-proven and patented a unique, modular design of spectacle frame that is completely adaptable with a universal fit for every person in the world regardless of size, ethnicity, sex and environment. A standard lens used in the frame corrects a broad range of optical needs including astigmatism from a fixed number of lens choices. In this way, a standard frame and lens set can be used to deliver optimal vision across a wide human population.Over the next 12 months, the Style Eyes frame design needs further refinement via research and development to achieve a commercial prototype that can be manufactured reliably using volume manufacturing techniques.Our vision is to create a social brand of spectacles called ‘Style Eyes’ with a mission to make good vision accessible to everyone on the planet.
