Fingerprints are a well established and well accepted method of verifying identity, but they can be faked. This project aims to develop a reliable method of distinguishing real from fake fingerprints, thus ensuring that high value electronic transactions such as mobile banking and shopping can be made secure. Prevention of fingerprint "spoofing" is a necessary step in ensuring that this most convenient biometric security process is widely accepted for mcommerce and similar applications.
