Development of a Nucleoside Diphosphate Platform for the Chemo-Enzymatic Synthesis of Nucleoside Triphosphates

Nucleoside triphosphates (NTPs) are Nature's raw materials for the assembly of the nucleic acids that store genetic material. We have developed an enzyme-based method that allows us to prepare NTPs. We use inexpensive materials in our processes, however, we are not sure how efficient or broadly-applicable our system is or how it compares to other known enzyme systems. We have gathered independent market research to show that our system could have broad interest to industrialists. Through this consultation, however, it was clear that further information on the breadth of scope and the limitations of our system were required before industry could consider adopting it. Furthermore, we also need to convert our system from something that works in a research laboratory into something that can be employed robustly on a chemical plant. The proposed work aims to broaden our understanding and translate our research towards industrial applications
