大学的使命是“发现和理解”。岭大于2012年正式制定“影响力、创新及知识交流”策略，致力推动“影响力、创新及知识交流”，当中包括四个主要目标：1.与外部组织建立并保持更深层次的合作关系2。充分利用我们的知识产权3。与我们的城市区域4接触。为了在我们的组织内嵌入影响，创新和知识交流在我们的试点NERC影响加速器成功之后，我们将继续投资于短期合作研究和开发项目，旨在帮助学术界与行业和公共部门合作伙伴建立伙伴关系，最终目的是将他们的研究转化为现实世界的影响。我们还将试行一项借调计划，让学者们在工业界工作，以便更好地了解合作伙伴关系的机会。

The University's mission is to 'discover and understand'. We remain committed to the goal of changing the world for the better through the power and application of ideas and knowledge.In 2012, the University formalised its commitment to Impact, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (IIKE) in its IIKE Strategy, which has four key objectives:1. To create and maintain deeper partnerships with external organisations2. To make the most of our Intellectual Property3. To engage with our City Region4. To embed Impact, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange within our organisationFollowing the success of our Pilot NERC Impact Accelerator, we will continue to invest in short term, collaborative Research and Development projects which aim to help academics to build partnerships with Industry and public sector partners, with the ultimate aim of translating their research into real-world impact. We will also trial a secondment scheme which will see academics spending time in industry, in order to better understand the opportunities of partnership.
