The National Football Museum (NFM) of England is one of the world's leading sport museums and as such a museum prominently concerned with popular culture. Its collection has gained official recognition as being of 'outstanding importance and value'. The NFM has gained a standing within the Uk museum sector that could not have been anticipated until recent years. It is now timely for the NFM to be studied as a cultural institution. In taking on this brief, the proposed project will, inter alia, examine the extensive collection and the museum's organisational working in regard to matters of acquisition and display.
