英文摘要
The hippocampus, a brain structure involved in episodic memory, has two main inputs: the medial entorhinal cortex (MEC) and the lateral entorhinal cortex (LEC). It is well established that the MEC is primarily involved in processing spatial information and the role of LEC in episodic memory is arguably confined to processing non-spatial information, such as context. While the neural mechanisms underlying spatial processing have been well understood, the function of neural populations within the LEC remains elusive. Using a combination of behavioural measures together with genetic and molecular techniques or electrophysiology, this project aims to fill the gap by examining the role of LEC-hippocampal network in episodic memory.
