Early results from the WEAVE spectroscopy facility

This project falls within the broad area of observational astrophysics. Over the next 5 years, WEAVE will obtain more than 12 million spectra of astrophysical sources with a survey programme that covers 8 discrete surveys of the Milky Way and the extra-Galactic sky, with targtetted follow-up of the Gaia, LOFAR, Apertif and IPHAS surveys.Initial data from WEAVE will be delivered mid-2020, and this research will combine the final on-sky calibration of the instrument with initial results from the science verification and early data phases of the survey programme.
