A critical exploration in how human centred designers participate in and improve humanitarian Open Source Software:This research will critically explore how collaboration between human-centred designers, people whomanage Humanitarian Open Source Software (HOSS) and users of the software work towards improvingcontributions on human rights issues. Through community-based participatory workshops and qualitativeresearch, this project will work in affected, humanitarian locations where HOSS is most prevalent in Indiawith 'dying' language translation and with human rights journalists in developing countries with encryptedinformation sharing. This research will discover insights on the impact that design contributions have onHOSS and also the front-line users of HOSS tools.
