This research will determine whether autistic people describe the experience of prayer in the same way as people who are 'neuro-typical', i.e. not autistic, and whether prayer (or prayer like practice) impacted their well-being. the project will aim to answer the following questions:Is the prayer life of the Church sufficiently accessible and inclusive to autistic worshippers?Does the insight of autistic Christians call for a re-imagined, inclusive theology of prayer?To what extent is prayer, or prayer-like practice such as mindfulness, useful as a therapeutic strategy for autistic people with anxiety disorders?
