The space-based LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antenna) observatory is due to launch in the2030s and will open our ability to observe the gravitational-wave Universe at millihertz frequencies.This will allow us to directly observe the collisions of massive black holes during the merger of twogalaxies, the merger of stellar-mass black holes with supermassive black holes in galactic centers andto observe white dwarf binary mergers in our Galaxy. Analysing LISA data to observe these sourceswill be a challenging problem and the "LISA collaboration" was recently formed to begin to addressthese problems.In the project the goals would be to explore what we can learn from the analysis of LISA data. Thestudent would be given the opportunity to participate in the ongoing LISA data-analysis challengesand develop techniques for observing and characterizing the types of sources that LISA will observewhen it launches.
