How human were humans in Upper Palaeolithic art? Novel perspectives from visual palaeopsychology

This project is concerned with developing and deploying inter-disciplinary approaches towards the study of Upper Palaeolithic art. Through the application of psychological eye-tracking methodologies, this project seeks to gain a more in depth understanding of how the differing subject groups within early human art relate to one another. By nature, the design of these experiments will allow us to further assess the utility psychophysical methods and eye-tracking use within archaeology. If successful, this project will provide a further methodological advancement within the new movement of psychological archaeology.
