Complex fluids are used in a variety of surgical procedures. There is a need for controlled application and subsequent removal of such fluids from body cavities This project explores the basic science governing such processes for complex fluids with various confined geometries, paying special attention to the dual roles played by the viscoelastic properties of the fluids and their interactions with the biological and implement surfaces involved in surgical procedures.
