The aim of this PhD project is to investigate, theoretically and computationally, the interaction between quantum light and complex molecular systems, as well as investigating the quantum processes that may enhance the sensing or energy transfer capabilities of certain biomolecules. The project will involve the implementation of quantum tensor network methods capable of treating on equal footing electromagnetic, electronic and vibrational degrees of freedom for the light-matter interaction and the associated transient quantum dynamics and non-equilibrium steady state processes. The project involves collaboration and continuous dialog with experimental groupsThrough this project the PhD student will develop excellent analytical and computational skills and will gain expertise in the theoretical description of exact open quantum dynamics of complex quantum systems, theory of open quantum system dynamics at different levels of approximation, theoretical quantum optics, theory of non-linear spectroscopy and theory of characterisation and quantification of quantum coherence and quantum correlations.
