The current study aimed to compare the likely differences between bonobos and chimpanzees during the social learning process for extractive tool use, so as to better understand the cultural phenomenon and the social intelligence in great apes. The study plan was originally designed to be conducted in two parts, including social learning process of novel too-using tasks and eye-tracking study when apes viewing the tool-using demonstration.I first cooperated with a student in his open diffusion study. The results would indicate how the chimpanzees react to an opaque task without information feedback, which could be used to compare with following studies. Then, I conducted a eye-tracking study to investigate the apes' visual attention when observing tool using.
