Social Prescribing is fast becoming a funding priority for Wales, but while there is a body of evidence that supports it, less is know about how it might work for precarious populations and how it might address societal wellbeing. Issy's proposed thesis speaks to these questions, while also seeking to understand the role of social prescribing in the context of precarity and uncertainty. The candidate's research seeks to explore whether for young people, specifically students and recent graduates, precarity is a predictor or an outcome of societal well-being, or both, and whether this has a relationship with social prescribing. It will explore young peoples' perspectives on precarity and well-being and how social prescribing can help tackle precarity in young people and improve their wellbeing. The student has already identified suitable qualitative methodologies for data collection (Group Concept Mapping followed by interviews) and will receive the relevant ethical and research safety training in their +1 MSc.
