Effectiveness of NHS psychological treatments for individuals with a diagnosis of Complex Trauma

Complex PTSD (cPTSD) is a newly-identified disorder linkedto adverse childhood experiences. The difficulties displayedwithin cPTSD are also displayed in individuals withborderline personality disorder (BPD); these similaritieshave raised questions as to whether they are two separatedisorders. We intend to gather information on patients'outcomes from both therapeutic communities (TCs) and adialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) service. With thisinformation we plan to distinguish between the twodisorders and uncover if people with cPTSD responddifferently to those with BPD within these services.Additionally, patients will be interviewed with the purposeof discovering how patients interpret the differentdiagnoses of cPTSD and BPD, including any stigmaassociated with the labels.
