Exploring the impact of digital technologies on health and wellbeing outcomes

Working in collaboration with Hampshire County Council, this project will examine the impact of digital technologies on the health and wellbeing of people using services and their carers (both paid and unpaid). The adult social care sector is facing significant challenges related to the imbalance between the demand for and supply of care and resources. Digital technology has the potential to support people to live well in their own homes; ease the burden on paid and unpaid carers; and prevent the escalation of need. Advanced data analytics will be used to explore the impact of digital technologies in these areas using linked data collected by local authorities, health providers, other statutory services and technology monitoring services. The successful student will benefit from an exceptional research environment, working closely with the new ESRC Centre for Care with extensive opportunities to engage with non-academic partners across the care sector and an extensive programme of development opportunities.
