Understanding the relationship between patient pathways and employment experiences for women experiencing problematic menstruation

The project aims to firstly understand the lived experience of managing problematic menstruation at work and accessing treatment (phase 1), and critical junctures of treatment decisions (phase 2). Interview participants will be recruited via relevant clinics, support networks and social media. Phases 1 and 2 will centre the lived experiences of women and trans non-binary people as they navigate employment and patient pathways. Finally in phase 3 the project, through workshops with key stakeholders, will co-develop recommendations for clinicians, employers and trade unions on how to support women and trans non-binary workers who are managing problematic menstruation. The findings of the research will be used to inform NICE guidelines, academic outputs and accessible outputs for research end users including patients.
