Bioinspired Photocatalysts for Renewable Hydrogen Production from Organic Waste

The aim of this project is to develop environmental-friendly bioinspired photocatalysts to harvest solar light and produce hydrogen from reforming of organic waste. We will use a combination of experimental and computational techniques to rationally design novel bioinspired photocatalytic materials.We will synthesise and test bioinspired photocatalysts by combining semi-conductors with transition metals and model the reaction pathways for hydrogen formation and organic degradation to predict the catalysts' performance and optimise their design.
