'End of the world' language in the New Testament within its ancient context

This project is an examination of 'end of the world' language (language of cosmic upheaval, dissolution and conflagration) in the New Testament against the background of Old Testament and first-century Jewish belief and language about the future of the world and coming divine judgement, and Greco-Roman views and language relating to the fate of the cosmos. The question I am addressing is whether the early Christians expected the end of the world (in the sense of the dissolution of the cosmos), and if so, what impact this expectation had on their world-views and social ethics.
