A5209 is a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, crossover study designed to determine the safety, efficacy, and tolerability of ezetimibe (Zetia) therapy in combination with ongoing statin therapy in HIV-infected subjects with elevated LDL cholesterol. The primary objectives are to evaluate the change in directly measured LDL-c after the addition of Ezetimibe to a stable background of HAART and statin therapy for 12 weeks compared with the change in LDL-c after 12 weeks of placebo, and to evaluate the safety and tolerability of ezetimibe added to a stable background of HAART and statin therapy.
