All three aims have been partly fulfilled. I have developed methodologies for the analysis of the conjuncture of nationalism and modernism/postmodernism in 20th c. Ireland, in addition to constructions of gender and art practice in that context. The process of applying both of these to the relevant material is on-going. The use of literature to reconstruct a cultural context for Irish art at this time requires further investigation.
