This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The yeast protein San1 is a ubiquitin-protein ligase that functions in the ubiquitin-mediated proteasomal degradation of aberrant proteins in the nucleus. It is not clear if San1 functions alone, or has cognate interacting partners vital to its function. We will search for San1-interacting proteins using the yeast 2-hybrid method.
