英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. To identify genes responsible for diabetic nephropathy (ND) and their linkage relationships, if any, to ESRD. A secondary aim is to identify nephropathy genes which may be the same or distinct from the genes of DN. Specific aims are to: organize a multi-centered consortium to undertake the recruitment of participants within a phenotypic range African-American (AA), Mexican-American (MA), and Caucasian/European Americans (EA), and Native Americans (NA); use affected relative pair (ARP), discordant relative pair (DRP), and mapping by admixture linkage disequilibrium (MALD) linkage analyses to scan the genome for linked chromosomal regions, and the transmission disequilibrium test (TDT) to evaluate candidate genes in those regions with evidence for linkage; and use environmental data as a guide for possible risk factor effects on genetic susceptibility. This is a clinical research cross sectional study.
