PACTG P1042S: CORRELATES OF MEDICATION ADHERENCE IN CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS W/HI

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. PACTG 1042s is a cross-sectional study that will correlate cognitive, behavioral, and psychosocial functioning with the degree of responsibility for and adherence to antiretroviral medication regimens in children and adolescents with perinatally acquired HIV infection. It will also correlate cognitive, behavioral and psychosocial functioning with measures of virologic suppression and immunological status, and compare self-report and pill count measures of adherence. 200 evaluable children and adolescents with perinatally acquired HIV-1 infection 8 to <19 years of age, who are enrolled and in active follow-up in PACTG 219C, will be stratified into two groups; < 12 years of age and = 12 years of age. The study will last 48 months for each subject.
