This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. Our project involved different areas in the study of sickle cell anemia and other hemoglobinopathies: a) Development of transgenic sickle mice and other animal models for the study of the pathophysiology and the treatment fo sickle cell anemia and related disorders. b) The study of clinical aspects of these diseases that are poorly understood
