This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The COBRE Confocal Microfluorometry and Microscopy Core facility provides the instrumentation, expertise, training and mentoring in confocal microfluorometry and microscopy necessary for the advancement of all COBRE projects. The projects are critically dependent on: microfluorometry of fast Calcium signals in cultured and native epithelial tissues; subcellular visualization of molecules, including the 3-dimensional reconstruction of labeling; colocalization experiments where maximal resolution and color separation through emission fingerprinting are necessary; and advanced colocalization techniques, such as FRET, for which the emission-scanning capabilities of our equipment is critical.
