The Administrative Core is comprised of the CORT Director (Kevin D. Cooper, MD), the Associate Director (Thomas S. McCormick, PhD), the Associate Director for Clinical Research (Neil J. Korman, MD, PhD), the Center Administrator, the Administrative Assistant, the Department Administrator, the Operating Committee and the Advisory Board. The aims of the Core are to: (1) integrate the components and activities of the CORT; (2) to manage fiscal operations; (3) to coordinate, develop, and facilitate planning in the CORT Project and Cores; (4) to implement an Enrichment Program; and (5) to foster new CORT initiatives. The Administrative Core provides leadership to CORT key personnel with regard to evolving opportunities arising in the projects and expertise available for their psoriasis research. The Administrative Core solicits, reviews, recommends to NIAMS, guides and monitors the progress of the Pilot and Feasibility Studies. The Administrative Core arranges the agendas and meetings of the Operating Committee and the Advisory Board. The Director has demonstrated a sustained commitment to excellence in research and training and is well qualified to manage all aspects of the CORT as needed. Drs. Cooper, McCormick, and Korman are active in many key institutional committees which help them integrate the Case CORT into the fabric of the University to leverage opportunities for the CORT and to foster productive interactions. Recently, an unrestriced gift of $5M from the Murdough Foundation established the Murdough Family Center for Psoriasis (MFCP) which will establish a regional clinical educational and research outreach network, provide recruitment package support for new psoriasis researchers and endow a fellowship program. Furthermore, the Skin Disease Research Center (SDRC) was recently renewed. The synergy between MFCP, the SDRC and the CORT is anticipated to result in outstanding progress. The Core will coordinate key lectures and seminars that will stimulate interactions and synergies in the psoriasis research milieu. The CORT will publish a newsletter (Psorian), a Core Services Directory, a website, and a brochure. An active collaborative conference program will work with other CWRU Centers including the Comprehensive Cancer Center, the GCRC, the recently awarded Clinical Tissue Engineering Center and the MFCP. The Core provides the integrated functioning of the CORT as a whole.
