This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Creatine kinase (CK) catalyzes the reversible conversion of creatine and ATP to phosphocreatine and ADP, thereby helping maintain energy homeostasis in the cell. We already have the structure of Torpedo californica Creatine Kinase structure with ATP and its transition-state analogue complex (CK-TSAC). We now are trying to solve the apo form and study the relative change in structure. There are three isoenzymes present in human, namely : MM, MB, and BB are found in muscle, cardiac and brain tissues. The level of CK-MB rises in case of Myocardial Infarction and that is what is measured.I have the crystals of the CK-MB with TSAC and need to collect data on it.
