Chen and Johnson (Ventilation-Synchronous Magnetic Resonance Microscopy of Pulmonary Structure and Ventilation in Mice, MRM 53:69-75, 2005) . . . trying to decide whether we should build a ventilator similar to the one you have at Duke or if we should modify an existing Flexivent ventilator to deliver the hyperpolarized gas. The Flexivent ventilator, if you are not aware, is a small animal ventilator that is MR compatible and several people have used it at high fields for creating proton images of the mouse lung. . . question to you would be whether you were aware of any advantages or disadvantages to using your "pressure controlled" ventilator versus more a more traditional "piston/volume controlled" ventilator?
