This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Our hypothesis is that half of the first degree relatives of this individual will carry this SFTPC mutation, and that a portion of these may have evidence of interstitial lung disease in an early stage before symptoms have developed. Our goal is to identify presymptomatic interstitial lung disease, then perform serial annual testing to determine the natural history.
