英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
The immediate goal of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center's Cell Biology Core Facility (PBRC-GCF) is to provide investigators with access to primary cells, cell lines, and adult stem cells isolated from metabolic tissues. With these reagents, tools, and techniques, the Core Facility will expand the scope and opportunity for investigators to conduct physiologically relevant in vitro studies relating to obesity and diabetes. The Core Facility will isolate, culture, cryopreserve, and differentiate primary cells obtained from human adipose tissue and skeletal muscle; in addition, cells will be generated from any experimental animal tissue of interest.
The Core Facility will provide the methods and materials required to generate and characterize immortalized cell lines using telomerase expression vectors. The long-term goal of the Core Facility is to establish an institutional "memory" and protocol database for commonly used cell biological methods and related biochemical assays. With this library of information, the Core Facility staff will provide instruction to new investigators who require additional training in the area of cell biology.
