Project Title: Training and Career Development Core Core Directors: J. Sanford Schwartz, MD and Joseph Cappella, Ph.D. Key Personnel: Schwartz (5%) and Cappella (5%) Project Summary: The training core builds on the very successful training program in CECCR I (four postdocs; eight other young investigators; 34 doctoral students, including five completed dissertations). It again has four major target groups: CECCR post-docs; CECCR young investigators; young investigators/post-docs in other Penn programs and doctoral students in the Annenberg School. The core will recruit, support, provide mentorship and monitor the progress of four new CECCR post-docs; arrange involvement in CECCR research for all trainees; and develop a wide range of training opportunities, including special seminars and courses.
