Hilbert phase microscopy (HPM) is a novel imaging technique developed in our lab that is capable of providing quantitative information about the red blood cells fluctuations at the nanometer and millisecond level, in a completely non-invasive manner. We developed a mathematical algorithm which allows extracting physical parameters, such as the membrane bending modulus, from the spatially resolved mean squared fluctuations.
