This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
This study will be a small-scale study evaluating the prevalence and reproducibility of white-coat hypertension (WCH) and masked hypertension (MH) in addition to the sensitivity and specificity of home blood pressure monitoring (compared to the gold-standard of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring) for detecting WCH and MH. This study will also be a pilot study allowing us to determine the effectiveness of our recruiting strategy, enrollment and study completion rates, as well as generate hypotheses regarding factors potentially associated with WCH and MH.
