This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. This study will be a small-scale study evaluating the prevalence and reproducibility of white-coat hypertension (WCH) and masked hypertension (MH) in addition to the sensitivity and specificity of home blood pressure monitoring (compared to the gold-standard of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring) for detecting WCH and MH. This study will also be a pilot study allowing us to determine the effectiveness of our recruiting strategy, enrollment and study completion rates, as well as generate hypotheses regarding factors potentially associated with WCH and MH.
