This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. This study is designed to see if using a combination of five anti?HIV drugs during the early stage of HIV infection can make the HIV virus in the blood and in certain body tissues undetectable, and whether the virus will stay undetectable even after you stop taking these drugs. This study will use lamivudine (3TC, Epivir¿), stavudine (d4T, Zerit¿), abacavir (ABC, 1592U89, Ziagen¿), ritonavir (RTV, Norvir¿), and amprenavir (APV, 141W94, Agenerase¿). Didanosine (ddI, Videx¿) and nelfinavir (NFV, Viracept¿) may also be used.
