ABSTRACT: DATA MANAGEMENT AND STATISTICAL CORE
The Data Management and Statistical (DMS) Core (Core C) supports the University of Kansas Alzheimer's
Disease Research Center (KU ADRC). DMS Core faculty and staff have the training and experience to
support the research needs of investigators that utilize KU ADRC resources. The central focus of this core is
managing and maintaining the entire spectrum of study-related information for the Clinical Cohort that is
collected across the cores and research projects. To support this objective a REDCap web-based data
capture platform is utilized. Data are prepared for extraction by investigators and NACC, as well as provide
statistical, bioinformatics, and data science expertise for research using the center. To support AD research
the DMS Core has the following specific aims.
Aim 1: Integrate, develop, and disseminate data and information management systems consistent with
the evolving needs of AD research
Aim 1a: Provide platforms for data capture, integration, and visualization for core-to-core integration
Aim 1b: Efficiently integrate, organize, curate, and disseminate research data
Aim 2: Enhance the quality of AD and aging research by providing investigators with statistical,
`omics, and data science expertise
Aim 2a: Support study design, oversight, and data analyses
Aim 2b: Collaborate and consult in the preparation of study presentations and publications
Aim 2c: Develop novel quantitative and data science methodologies to improve inference
The DMS Core remains highly integrated across the cores. Data management, data extracts, and statistical
support are provided, and the DMS Core has key roles as liaisons for core-to-core and core-to-research project
interactions. The Core also supports the development and applications of tools and expertise for biostatistics,
bioinformatics, and data science needs of AD research.
DMS Core
