ABSTRACT: OUTREACH, RECRUITMENT, AND ENGAGEMENT (ORE) CORE The ORE Core connects the public, healthcare professionals, trainees, and investigators to facilitate aging and AD research, positioning the KU ADRC as a critical community asset for the region. In the last decade we have established a dynamic infrastructure to communicate scientific and health information to our stakeholders and incorporate their needs and requests into our programs. Our goal is to make our region more dementia capable and research ready. We accomplish this through regular, tailored community engagement and education, efficient research recruitment operations, and training and support of health care professionals. Our engagement of the lay public and healthcare professionals has been far-reaching. In the last 5 years we have provided ADRD education to more than 9800 individuals through 343 community talks, and trained 275 providers and other health care workers in dementia capable care. In accomplishing this, we have established and formalized partnerships with community organizations through shared decision making and resources. These efforts have led to increased ADRD and brain health awareness, and enrollment of 2138 participants in 54 studies. Our Clinical Cohort boasts high retention and a diverse enrollment consistent with our region. Over the next cycle, the ORE Core will test and implement new strategies to recruit participants, educate stakeholders, and support dementia capable care in the region. We will focus on enhancing trial and biomarker procedure participation especially amongst African American, Latino, and rural residents. In our last cycle, we led efforts to design culturally appropriate, and community-informed lifestyle modification (e.g. physical activity, diet) curricula that increased research participation. We will expand these offerings with our service agencies, community groups, and health system partners, building capacity with these community assets through trainings for ADRD care and research referral. Through its efforts and programs, the ORE Core has established the KU ADRC as the region's premier location for ADRD scholarship and care. In the next 5 years, we will expand on these successes by supporting existing programs and developing and testing new strategies that will help the KU ADRC and ADRC network achieve national research and care milestones.
