英文摘要
Summary Our research training programs in Tajikistan and Indonesia have evolved into a well-developed, comprehensive, and thoroughly vetted research training curriculum partially based on the online learning platforms. Our successes and international visibility led to multiple inquiries from colleagues in other countries about joining our training Center for Botanicals and Chronic Diseases (CBCD). Specifically, our long-term Ecuadorian colleagues working in two major universities in Quito (Universidad San Francisco de Quito and Universidad Internacional del Ecuador) asked about joining CBCD through the administrative supplement mechanism. We feel that our extensive research training network and well-tested learning platforms allow smooth inclusion of an additional country into the program, regardless of its geographical location. Our year-long accelerated research training program in Ecuador will focus on the following three aims:  Recruit and train 8 Master level trainees in two leading Ecuadorian Universities: Universidad San Francisco de Quito and Universidad Internacional del Ecuador for an accelerated one- year research training program. The trainees will be recruited by December 2023 and graduate in December 2024.  Fully integrate Ecuadorian trainees into the existing online training curriculum, as well as mentorship and research peer programs with faculty, postdocs and graduate students at Rutgers and CUNY. Include Ecuadorian students in planned scientific seminars and Zoom- based symposiums and encourage their interactions with our trainees in Tajikistan and Indonesia. This relationship will continue beyond one year with no additional cost to the CBCD.  Conduct one in-person research symposium in Ecuador with electronic participation of Tajik and Indonesian trainees.
