BioneQ: A bioinformatics resource for life science research

The Bioinformatics Network of Québec (BioneQ) was created in 2001 by a grant from Genome Québec. BioneQ now operates from within the Robert-Cedergren Center at the Université de Montréal, a center for research in bioinformatics and genomics. The goal of BioneQ is to facilitate life science research in Québec and Canada by offering integrated bioinformatics services that are not readily available to scientists in their research environment. BioneQ has four primary strategies for achieving this goal: - Provide professional bioinformatics training tailored to life scientists, - Supply access to high-performance computing resources, - Offer bioinformatics support: help desk, custom programming and analysis, - Facilitate new collaborations between bioinformatics researchers and life scientists. In the current proposal, BioneQ intends to expand its services to the entire community of life scientists in Quebec (and eventually elsewhere), in the academic, public and corporate sectors.  Several major research programs have documented their dependence upon BioneQ's services.  This proposal will allow those programs and others to continue to produce quality research.
