Networks performance lab upgrade

Advances in technology have led to substantial increases in the performance and complexity of modern computing and networking systems. Practical research in the areas of distributed systems, networking, and server operating systems requires access to state-of-the-art computer systems and networks on which new ideas can be implemented and evaluated.This proposal will upgrade and enhance the networks performance lab used by members of the Networks and Distributed Systems group at the University of Waterloo for performance-oriented experiments. This proposal will extend and augment the existing equipment in the networks performance lab and provide new types of equipment that will support research previously not possible. At the same time, it will improve the operation and management of the experimental equipment, so that participating researchers and Graduate students can use their work time as efficiently as possible.
