英文摘要
Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is rapidly advancing as a powerful tool for structure determination in peptides and proteins, a key to the understanding of their functions. Of particular interest are membrane peptides and proteins that are not readily amenable to structural analysis by other high-resolution techniques such as X-ray crystallography and solution state NMR. Thus, solid-state NMR is the only technique that can provide definitive information on the structural detail in these systems.  The research outlined in this proposal focuses on the development of new solid-state NMR methods for structural studies aiming at the increase of sensitivity of measurements, and on the applications of these methods in biological systems of interest, such as membrane- and cytoskeleton-associated myelin basic protein, and proteorhodopsin.
