英文摘要
This proposal requests the purchase of a zero to 250kHz electrical spectrum analyser and an IR (1500nm band) camera to measure the mode distributions in a multimode optical fibres for sensing applications. We do not have low frequency spectrum analysers available to us in the laboratory, as all of them extend to multi GHz. We have developed and are researching a highly sensitive optical fibre sensor which may be used for distributed sensing of temperature, strain and vibration. We are intending to apply this sensor for monitoring the degradation in the permafrost due to climate change in northern Canada. Another application is in the measurement of  low frequency response in optical delay lines for optical coherence tomography applications.
