The aim of this project is to take the real options approach from theory to practice for the valuation and planning of complex mineral deposits. Real options is a methodology developed in the financial sector. We intend to use a real options framework to perform long-term planning of complex mining projects taking into account metal price risk, geological risk and foreign exchange risk. The final challenge is to make the system somewhat practical to use.
