From sensation to cognition the case of time perception

这项研究计划的目的是为了更好地了解人类时间适应所需的机制。基本采用心理物理方法（模型、规律、方法、定量分析）对时间问题进行实证调查和数据分析。脑电图分析也计划。该计划是原创的，因为它强调了表征时间处理的感官模式的特殊性和共同特征，以及从内部时钟角度解释时间相关现象时整合了高阶过程（容量限制，记忆机制）。该研究项目将有助于以下方面的基础知识：(a)时间适应机制；(b)感觉模式特性；(c)处理能力和记忆机制的限制。最终，从理论的角度来看，它应该有助于建立感觉/知觉和思维组织之间的联系。此外，在应用方面，它应该证明对开发注意力能力的测试是有用的。

The objective of the research program is to gain better understanding of the mechanisms required for human temporal adaptation. Basically, a psychophysical approach (models, laws, methods, quantitative analyses) is adopted for empirically investigating the timing problems and analyzing data. EEG analyses are also planned. The program is original on account of its emphasis on the particularities and common features characterizing sensory modes for temporal processing and its integration of higher-order processes (capacity limitations, memory mechanisms) in explaining time-related phenomena from within an internal-clock perspective. This research program should contribute to fundamental knowledge about: (a) temporal adaptation mechanisms; (b) sensory mode properties; and (c) the limitations of processing capacities and memory mechanisms. Ultimately, from a theoretical standpoint, it should contribute to establishing links between sensation/perception and the organization of thinking. In addition, in terms of applications, it should prove useful for developing tests of attentional capacities.
