This proposal is to take part in a study of the surface preparation of superconducting radio frequency cavities. These devices are central to several current and future particle accelerator projects. The project is a collaboration between TRIUMF and the University of Toronto. It involves the continued development of a cryogenic RF test stand designed to facilitate the testing of superconducting RF cavities. The particular design of cavity is relevant to both the proposed TRIUMF 50 MeV electron LINAC and also the proposed International Linear Collider. The proposal depends on TRIUMF fabricating the cavities, and supplying much of the test infrastructure.
