Today, nearly all radiation treatments of curative intent aims to deliver a dose of radiation to the exact three-dimensional shape of tumors. This high treatment conformity means that tumors can receive higher doses (more chance of treatment success) while normal tissues receive lower doses (less risk of complication). However, to make sure that conformal treatments really translate into better clinical outcomes it is necessary to do regular verifications by performing sets of measurements.
